James Piatt – Out Beyond – 3

Out Beyond
by James Piatt

Out beyond…

The insight of happy dreams, there is a place, that was and still is, a place where grave markers of rotting wood litter the earth, a dark place where minds are sated with toxic words coming from the thunder of red hooves beating out despair and division.

But out beyond…

The quickly fading years, there is also a place in the middle of a land called there-once-was, a place where caged birds were set free, and humans were able to dream of tall pine trees, and softly flowing streams meandering through colorful flowered meadows.

And far out beyond…

The thin crimson horizon line, there is a place that perhaps never was, and may never be again, a place of serenity and peace, where innocents gather in safety, and hear the beautiful chords of a Chopin Nocturne without the sound of bombs and bullets.

And farther out beyond…

The gentle soft breezes that carry lost memories into the mist, there is a place beyond the eyes of the world where an elderly couple can wade safely in the ocean’s foam holding hands, forgetting the harshness of the times.
