Wet Morning

by Molly O’Dell

After three and a half inches of rain
the parking lot pools, pastel gray
sky-streaks Milford Haven.

The flag droops, oystermen putter
through their floats. Fishermen
arrive one at a time, sending ripples

under the pier where sun muscles
up between pearled layers of wet
weather dissolving into thin air.
