They say Food Desert like
it’s part of a natural ecosystem
Like the empty cart’s mother will return to find it
on the pavement after a day of hunting
Like fences and powerlines aren’t choices,
like graffiti under the bridge is a crime
and not the writing on the wall
They put a place on film
and give it a yellow tint
like it’s another world
Like it’s a shithole
and not a choice
and not chosen here
