By Mary Bone
Serene beauty surrounds
a painting of a woman.
She is waiting for her pumpkin coach.
Light and color frame her face,
as Prince Charming disappears
in a foggy hue.
She journeys home to sit by a charred fire.
A knock on her door breaks through
her reverie.
She knows deep down this
shoe will fit.
